The Z Carbon Filter uses an advanced treatment system designed to treat the spirit in one stage and gives excellent results in a very short time.
The Z Filter comes complete with 2 x 10 Litre buckets (with lids), and a sachet of Z Carbon.
The alcoholic strength needs to be less than 50% for the carbon to work effectively so always dilute before use. I reduce mine down to 40 %ABV before starting as then I don’t need to further dilutions when making any spirit. As a preference I like to treat my alcohol by running it through twice. I find this produces a cleaner tasting drink. I tend to set it up to run about 3 o’clock in the afternoon. It will take about 6 hours for it to run through. Once it has I just do it again and when I come down in the morning it’s all finished. It might take 12 hours but I really don’t have to do anything. It is however important if you are doing this double filtration to do it quickly. We don’t want the carbon drying out. It is worth noting that we can do up to 20 litres on one lot of carbon.
The carbon should never be reused. The replacement carbon is the 'Z-Carbon Universal 195g'.
