Heat Wave Turbo

Please note: This yeast is designed to be used with the Super Reflux Still and should not be used with the Air Still.

The only Turbo Yeast to use when the air temperature is above 33°C (91.4°F). Heat Wave will ferment 25 litres in 3-5 days up to 15% ABV. You wll finish with approximately 6 litres of 40% ABV spirit once the wash has been through your still.

Heat Wave Turbo is also the only yeast we recommend for 'stacking'. Up to a 200 litre volume can be fermented using 8 sachets (providing the start liquid temperature and air temperature are both 20°C (68°F)).

As with all Turbo Yeasts, Heat Wave further benefits from being used with Turbo Carbon.

Instructions

  1. Prepare water making sure it is as close as possible to 20°C (68°F). This cool water temperature is especially important when the air temperature is above 30°C (86°F). Adjust the temperature if necessary with hot or cold water.
  2. Adjust the water start volume to exactly 21 litres.
  3. Now add 6kg of sugar, sucrose or dextrose and stir until completely disolved.
  4. Add the yeast and stir well.
  5. Rest the lid loosely on the fermenter and leave to ferment at an air temperature of between 20-40°C (68-104°F). Best results are achieved at an air temperature of between 30-35°C (86-95°F).
  6. Fermentation will take 3-4 days.
  7. If using a hydrometer; a final gravity as low as 985 is possible providing the water start temperature was 20°C (68°F)

Important

To achieve the best quality alcohol it is important to use Turbo Clear after fermentation.
