Here are some useful points that you will find of interest.
- I have an existing wine rack and find I need more storage?
- You can add to your existing wine rack but only if you currently have one made by RTA, our manufacturers. They do a really neat extend a rack system. This will simply join the two together and creates an extra bottle hole at the joining. This can be located both horizontally as well as vertically. Allow for this (10cm approx) when working it out.
- What is the recommended height I can work to?
- We would not want to go much higher than 2 meters. It is possible but will require some good wall fixings and also its not very convenient reaching above this especially with handling glass bottles.
- Would you suggest that it will be worthwhile screwing the rack to the wall?
- It is not only worthwhile but it is essential if it’s higher than 5 bottles. There are corner strips which have fixing holes located in them which make this relatively easy to do.
- Can these wine racks take half size bottles?
- Yes they will take most half size bottles but some are particularly thin and long so it’s not great for these. If you are storing half size bottles on a regular basis let us know and we can have special size holders made.
- Similarly with Champagne and Magnum bottles?
- The standard champagne bottle is not a problem as this will fit into the standard hole. Magnums are a problem and again if you are storing large quantities of these then we can make special opening for these.
- What if my cellar is damp?
- All our racks are galvanised steel so they will take a certain amount of dampness but if its quite damp we would not recommend this as not only will it cause problems for the racks but your wine as well. Wine should be stored at a temperature 40-60°F.
- If my wall is quite large will it still come in one section?
- No we will deliver it in sections and provide the joining clips. This is for two reasons the first is its likely to get damaged on delivery and secondly it will more than likely be impossible to get through the house to the point of installation.
