A wine press come in all sizes from the small 1.3 kg, 1.8 kg, 5 litres, 9.5 litres, 12 litres, 20 litres, 30 litres and we also do a full range of stainless steel wine presses in 5 different sizes. We have a full selection of crushers for breaking down the grapes before they are pressed. If you are using a crusher then the also a 20 litres which exactly the same, but bigger. The idea is the crusher can rest on the top of either the 12 litre or 20 litre wine presses.
The crusher is used to crush the fruit/grapes and then taken off the wine press when you have finished. The fruit/grapes will then be in the body of the wine or fruit press. This would normally require two movements. You can then start to use the press by swinging the top section across over the main body of the wine press. The top will drop down onto the grapes in the press and you can then and applying pressure to the fruit/grapes. When the juice starts to run out you need to place a collecting bowl underneath to hold juices that are running out of the main body of the fruit press.
Using a wine press is simple and great fun and is also very good for using up fruit, which would normally just rot in the garden. This simple piece of kit will crush the produce and turn it into juice. So get out your press as often as you want to make some wine or cider or when ever you have a supply of fruit which has been collected. It can actually be hard work turning the spindle on the wine press so don't over do it. Alternatively get someone to help use the press.
We have also heard of wine press parties so get your friends round and get them helping you with your production. You can then make wine and next year when you have the same party you can drink the hard work now they will get their rewards in 12 months time. Only last years wine pressers get to drink this year.
Depending on how much grape/fruit you have you may want to up grade your wine press to a larger one. We also have them with a water pressing. This is a way of taking all the hard work out of the equation by using the power of the water to do the crushing. The crushers can also be motorised so if you need plenty of production help.
We can do part exchange if that helps when you purchase a new wine press. You might find that you get more for your press if you sold it privately. Why not try some one who came to the pressing party? You never know who is looking for a wine press so it's worth putting an advert in the paper or on ebay.
