Beaverdale Wine Kit

The House of Beaverdale Wine Kit was launched by me (Richard Blackwell) in 1987. I felt there was a real need for a superb range of all grape wine kits to service home brewers who were looking for a top end product with guaranteed performance. At the time it was by far the most expensive wine kit on the market but this did not stop the Beaverdale wine kit from becoming the UK’s best selling quality kit. The range was very limited to start with but soon expanded as new varietals’ were found from around the world.

In early 90’s we started to get the range contract packed in Canada and this also changed the style of the end product slightly. Because the packaging was in a bag which was filled hot we could reduce the preservative to a much lower level. This was real benefit to the Beaverdale wine kit because it really improved the bouquet and the taste. It also gave us access to many more grape varieties from South America and the United States.

The Red Beaverdale Wine Kit range now includes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz, Cabernet/Merlot, Vieux Chateau De Roi (Chateaux Neuf Du Pape style), Californian Red, Valpolicella, Barolo (which uses the Nebbiola Grape), and Rioja (which use the Tempranillo Grape). In the White Beaverdale Wine Kit range we have Californian White, a White Burgundy style, Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Fume Blanc, Gertztaminer, Muscadet, Pinot Grigio, Riesling, Piesporter and Sauvignon Blanc. It really is a very comprehensive range full of flavour and choice. It is not surprising that this has consistently been the best selling quality range of wines in the UK for the last 15 years. The Beaverdale Wine Kit range has never been available from the supermarkets and has only gone to specialist shops. I don’t know if this exclusive distribution has been the reason for the undoubted success of the Beaverdale Wine Kit range.
